San Leandro

15-Apr-2015 • San Leandro United States

San Leandro will always hold a special spot in my heart. It was in this city where I spent my first five years in the US.

I came here today for my bi annual dental check-up and saw these murals on the back of a school hall facing the Bart station. These must be new since I don't remember seeing them six months ago.

I held my very first job in the US right in this building. I worked for a collection agency as a clerk for a year and the office was located on the fourth floor of this Wells Fargo Building in downtown San Leandro.

St. Leander's Church

I had half an hour before my check up and I decided to go inside to pray here this afternoon and give thanks. I do so every time I come to San Leandro. For a year back in the early 1990s, I came to this church every lunch time from work to pray. Before coming to the US, I was often told how easy it was going to be for me to begin my life in America. I had after all, I graduated from very good schools and even pursued graduate study in Europe.

I was so naïve. I had a rough start.

Anyway, I have a wonderful life now and I am very thankful to God for all his blessings. He more than answered my prayers.

This is how the church looks on the inside
