Stanford Shopping Center
Just like any city in any American state, there are lots of suburban malls here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Despite the sheer number however, I can count with my fingers my favorite places to shop in.
Palo Alto's Stanford Shopping Center is one of them. I haven't shopped here in a long time and I could not help but notice the very imposing stores of Microsoft and Apple. I tell myself I really should not be surprised. They are after all located in the famous Silicon Valley.
It is said that the new Apple Store currently under construction and being built out of the old Levi's Jeans site in San Francisco's Union Square will be a mammoth building made of glass and steel very similar to the one here in Stanford's.
At first glance, I thought this was the statue of the late French President Charles de Galle. On second thought, I told myself it could not possibly be. I didn't see any sign nearby with the artist's name nor the artwork's description. My guess is it's the statue of a young man, most probably a techie, wearing a baseball cap in reverse, a tank top, shorts, and flip flops on a skateboard.
