Our Home at Christmas

21-Dec-2014 • San Francisco, California United States

I love Christmas. I look forward to it every year. How I wish it lasted longer. I just love everything about it: the family gatherings, the parties with friends, neighbors, and colleagues, the shopping, the concerts, the winter breaks. It is simply joyous.

Just like many people everywhere, I decorate my home for the season. If only you knew how much space all my Christmas décor took up in my home. It is ridiculous. To think, the season lasts no more than a month every year. I just can't help it. The decorations are just so cute and I too want the season reflected in my home.

This is how I decorated my residence this Christmas.

Nutcrackers. These German nutcrackers are the best. They are pricey but boy are they cute. I bought these here in San Francisco. I see them for sale in Munich all year long but I honestly don't see that much difference in price.

I saw hundreds of nesting dolls in the Czech Republic. However, I never paid any attention to them at all then. I really only took a liking to them during our second trip to Eastern Europe. There were tons of them in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Surprisingly I bought these at GUMPS during their after Christmas sale.

A home is not complete during the Christmas season without the quintessential tree. I have two!

One of my very first and favorite ornaments from Germany

It was last 1998 when I first bought my very own ornaments from Macy's. Fifteen years on, I now own thousands, yes, thousands of ornaments. I am particularly partial to the glass blown ones from Eastern Europe. They are expensive but hey, they are second to none. I own a few Christopher Radkos too. I just can't help myself when they are sold on big sales.

The latest addition to my holiday decorations: the Advent Calendars

I still prefer to say "Merry Christmas!"

I love this old American Christmas scene from centuries past. This was thrifted, folks. One of my favorites among my ever growing collection of decorations.
