Of all holidays celebrated in the US, Thanksgiving is my hands down favorite. While Christmas comes in a very close second, there is, for me, no special day that can equal Thanksgiving's essence and celebration. This is the time when the family really comes together and gives thanks for all the blessings it has received over time. This is when family members, be they in the west, east, north, or south of the country, travel far and wide to be together and partake of the feast which consists of the customary turkey and pumpkin pie.

I have a lot to be thankful to the US for. I have lived here for nearly twenty five years and I have been truly blessed. I would be lying if I said that my life has been perfect in this country but it certainly has been comfortable, rewarding, and fulfilling.

It is true what the people I know who came here before me have said. If one works hard and perseveres, one can progress. I cannot think of any place as welcoming to everyone as the USA is. Most of my lifelong dreams have come true here. I may be Filipino by birth, but the US is really my home. Thank you so very much America!
