Oh Benicia, How Beautiful You Are!

18-Oct-2014 • Benicia, California United States

Benicia was not really our planned destination this afternoon. We were on our way to the Vacaville Premium Outlet stores when Marc and I decided to make a quick detour to Benicia for some quick sightseeing. I first heard of the city shortly after I began attending my graduate studies at the University of San Francisco ages ago. However, our visit this afternoon was my first to the city. Needless to say, our visit felt very much like a vacation once again and I was a happy camper.

What a sight! That's the Carquinez Bridge with a man water paddling in the foreground.

Waterfront houses with no doubt spectacular views of the bay

The Benicia State Capitol Building

A pick and some nails used by the SF 49ers to build California

This hall on the first floor of the State Capitol Building reminded me so much of Independence Hall in Philadelphia.

The Assembly Room on the second floor

The historic Fischer Hanlon House right next to the State Capitol Building

This used to be a hotel back in the 1800s with a sign on the window which made me smile.

This was what I saw!
