Borobodur, An Indonesian Resturant in San Francisco

I consider myself spoiled for extremely good ethnic restaurants in San Francisco. In fact, from where I live all I need to do is walk a few short blocks to eat in some of my most favorite joints. I do admit being partial to Asian cuisine. Lucky for me, there is a plethora of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Korean, Indian, Burmese, and Filipino restaurants in my adopted hometown, none of which are too expensive to buy food from, lunch or dine in. This week, I returned to Borobodur, a well established Indonesian restaurant on Post Street near Union Square.

We didn't quite take a liking to it since it its prices were rather steep compared to our usual jaunts. Instead, we used to dine in another Indonesian Restaurant across the block. Now that the latter has ceased operations, Marc and I told ourselves we would give Borobodur another try one day when we had the time. Now that I am on summer break and currently on staycation, time is what I have a lot of.

Hence, I went there last Monday for lunch. Once seated, the restaurant's lone waitress gave me the regular menu with higher prices. I was only given the lunch special menu with the lower prices when I asked for it.

Borobodur is a short walk from Union Square. It sits right on the corner of Post and Jones Street.

Nasi Rendang, a beef stew I asked for. This was my lunch last Monday. The beef was oh so tender.
