Besides Hillerod, a day trip to Roskilde came highly recommended by Rick Steeves, the American travel guru whose travel book we used and took with us to Scandinavia.

The Roskilde Cathedral. I must say, the Danish towns and cities began to resemble their Spanish counterparts. All seemed to have a cathedral.

There were many royal sepulchers inside the cathedral. Kings and Queens were laid to rest inside here.

The Vikings were Danes and ship building was one of their occupations. In Roskilde, we saw lots of wooden ships built in numbers on the grounds of the Viking Ship Museum
