Waterford, Cork, Ring of Kerry, Blarney Castle

20-Oct-2013 • Waterford, Cork, and Blarney Ireland

I first knew of the name Waterford back in the US. Marc bought some of their ornaments for his mom one Christmas in a store in Union Square. The ornaments looked very made of heavy crystal and they also came with a very high price tag. Little did I know I would one day get to visit the town it is located in Ireland. In fact, we visited its showroom where elegant vases, ornaments, and anything and everything Waterford stood for was being manufactured.

The St. Fin Barre's Cathedral in Cork

I remember Marc being very frustrated not being able to visit the cathedral during the tour. In fact, we just had a photo op at the place and not much more. He had visited Cork on a work assignment a few months earlier and he wanted to visit it again. It was just one of the lessons we learned from going on a cost saver tour.

We were so glad, actually, Marc more so, when we came and visited the Blarney Castle. Unlike other landmarks we had passed earlier during the tour, we actually had time to roam around and enjoy this castle.

Blarney Castle is famous for the supposed gift of gab one acquires when comes here. There is a spot here where a visitor has to lie on his back and kiss a certain spot in the castle.

Waterville, a sleepy Irish village along the Ring of Kerry

A few yards away from a church in Waterville. Right behind this church was a tiny cemetery where gravestones dated back to the 1800s.
