The Ibis Hotel in Budapest

7-Aug-2013 • Budapest Hungary

Just like our hotel in Frankfurt, Berlin, Prague, and Vienna, the IBIS was our hotel in Budapest. What can I say? After staying in all IBIS Hotels in each and every city we had visited thus far, the IBIS was a reliable hotel chain I wouldn't mind staying in while vacationing in Europe. They are clean, albeit small, and economical. For people like us who hardly stay in the room, we didn't need luxury.

We actually changed rooms three times while in this IBIS Hotel. All IBIS hotel rooms have airconditioning. The one assigned us did have airconditioning but it didn't work. We thought it was just going to take some time to warm up and that eventually it would cool the room. We stayed there the first night but it didn't happen. We did have to open the window to let air in.

The next morning, we went to the front desk and asked for a change of rooms. The personnel on duty apologized and assigned us another room mid day. When we arrived at the new room we were given, the room had a smell of sweat. Down we went again and complained. Changing rooms was no problem for the staff. The young lady in charge went up with us to the third room they were now going to give us to check it out herself. The third and last one was just fine. We agreed to stay there and for the inconvenience the hotel caused us, we were given free buffet breakfast the following morning. That was superb customer service!
