Seurasaari Open Air Museum, Part 3
It was already past noon and we had yet to finish touring the entire open air museum.
This was a house designed by architect C.L. Engel in the 1830s.
Given that Finland used to be part of Russia, it was not surprising to see this Russian style house in the house as part of the exhibit. The Pertinotsa is described as as Northern Russian house fin which the dwelling for people and the shelter for livestock were both under the same roof. The main room upstairs was the center for human living while the animals lived downstairs.
Grain was stored here while the upper floor served as the bedroom.
Although small in size, people did live here in the early 1800s. The middle house was basically storage for food while the others served as sleeping sheds.
