Our First Full Day in Paris

3-Jan-2013 • Paris France

Paris did not fail to impress. It is a beautiful city indeed. On our first full day in Paris, we woke up early to begin our sightseeing. Going to the Grand Arche de la Defense was a no brainer, really. It was right next to our hotel. It was new for me too since I hadn't seen it during my first visit. I don't think it was even built back during my first trip to France.

The Grand Arche de la Defense

I was very pleased with the location of our hotel. It was very safe, clean, and quite upscale. Our hotel was actually right in the middle of the financial district. It was not uncommon to see office workers and employees all throughout the day on their way to work and back to their homes.

At that time this picture was taken, I was all into taking pictures for my photo albums. I wanted to capture every image of Paris possible to remember them by.

It's McDonald's, folks!

I know what some travel snobs might say, "What? You were in Paris and yet you ate in Mickey Dees?" Oh yes! When you are hungry and new in a place, you go to the first place you see open and ready to serve food. Besides, on this trip, we were in Paris for a week and another two and a half weeks touring all over France. We savored a lot of French food. Don't you worry.

Inside the Paris Metro

I must confess, I really loved traveling in the Paris Metro. It was cheap and efficient. It also reminded me so much of the Madrid Metro. The stations looked exactly alike. The size, the platforms.

Even though I had seen the Eiffel Tower before, I couldn't help but be impressed once again. It was particularly impressive at night when it was all lit up and sparkly.

Given that we were in Paris in the year 2000, the beginning of the new millennium, the number 2000 was emblazoned on the tower.

I didn't even realize Marc took this picture of me.

Climbing the stairs to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. As you can see there were many people doing the same thing. The climb up was a bit slow but it kept moving. Step over step. Step over step.

I remember this school vividly from way back during my first visit to Paris.

It was truly a wonderful feeling to be back in Paris and to wander its streets with Marc. It was just a another dream come true.
