The Budapest State Opera and St. Stephen's Cathedral

While along Andrassy Avenue, we passed by the State Opera.  It was a beautiful building indeed.

Right behind me on the right was an old gypsy woman panhandling. Right before our trip to Hungary, many reviews I read on the internet warned about gypsies all over the city of Budapest hassling tourists and visitors.  Luckily, nothing of the sort happened to us.

Not far away from the State Opera was another main attraction in Budapest, St. Stephen's Cathedral.  Mind you, all these principal sights were as far as I could recall along Andrassy Avenue.

There were many people on the cathedral grounds at the time of our visit.  While many cathedrals and churches in Europe are generally open to the public, in St. Stephen's visitors had to pay 2 euros to enter. While the fee in itself is not much, this same fee detered many families from entering the cathedral and going inside.

St. Stephen's mummified hand. To be honest, I find it hard to see on this picture.
