New York in the Spring of 2002

4-Jan-2010 • New York United States

I have been to New York many times.  I love New York.  It is indeed an exciting place to visit in the United States.  My very first visit to New York actually took place in the summer of 1994.  It was the very first time my partner, Marc, and I traveled together.  It was indeed a memorable trip and I have traveled to New York many times since.

Unfortunately, digital cameras had not yet been invented back then and so although I had pictures taken during that first visit, I cannot upload them on to this blog unless of course I scan all of  them.  Anyway, here were are some pictures we took from my visit during my spring vacation 2002, the onset of the digital age for cameras.

Inside Radio City Music Hall

On this visit to New York, I joined a tour of Radio City Music Hall. I got to sit in the main theater where the Tony's is held year after year and where the Rockettes perform all the time.

On the way to Gramercy Park

The Gramercy in New York

I love the name Gramercy.  It sounds so elegant, so old world, so rich. I wonder why it sounds so familiar?

Fifth Avenue on Easter Sunday

Taken after attending mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Easter Sunday 2002. The whole avenue was blocked off from traffic and converted into a pedestrian only lane. There were lots of people, mostly tourists. Women wore bonnets of all sizes and shapes.

I liked the whole scene at Fifth Avenue on Easter Sunday.  It was very festive and I loved the crowds.  It was just a few months after the sad events of September 11 but people were celebrating just the same.

I have been fortunate to have watched a number of shows on Broadway.  The very first one I ever attended here was MISS SAIGON in the summer of 1994.

Inside Grand Central Station

I have been to Grand Central Station many times.  Marc and I have eaten at the food court in the basement a few times when we needed to rest our feet and take a break from all of the sightseeing.  I have had my picture taken here many, many times too but all shots came out dark or fuzzy and sometimes even both.  I have no idea but for some reason, I just can't seem to get a decent picture indoors here.
