Basel, Switzerland

My partner and I have been home nearly three weeks and I have to say, I am just so ecstatic to have had another five wonderful weeks in Europe. What a vacation it was! We were there during the second heatwave in the continent but even then, we came home with wonderful memories to remember the rest of our lives. One of our trip's highlights was the day we spent in Basel. Finally, after so many years, we made it back to Switzerland.

One of the reasons we stayed a full week in Strasbourg was because of its proximity to the cities we planned on visiting, Basel included. We bought our tickets on the same day we traveled. We paid around 60 euros roundtrip for each of our tickets. We've always known that it was best to buy tickets for long distance travel in advance. Many even advice two weeks prior. That way, tickets could be purchased at the best price. However, what we wanted to avoid was traveling on a day it was forecasted to rain. We've always felt there was the possibility of a strong downpour any day and we didn't want to get stuck with tickets when it did. In fact, just two years before, also in the summer, it was cloudy, cold, and wet in the Netherlands during our June visit.

As soon as we arrived we grabbed some burgers from McDonalds and off sightseeing we went. We had some problems locating the center at first but a young Swiss gentleman gave us directions.

I might be wrong but Basel's attractions seemed close to each other which made sightseeing easy.
