Strasbourg, what a beauty!
After a few days in Germany recovering from jetlag, off we went to Strasbourg to discover Alsace a bit more and travel to Switzerland too. I honestly love Strasbourg and all of Alsace. The half timbered houses that dot many of its cities are so beautiful. We stayed a full week here. Accommodation was a bit pricey but it was worth every penny. We initially planned on staying in one of the many hotels across the train station but when we heard of the Adaggio from other travelers from Europe, we opted for their studio with a kitchenette. It was a good choice.
Taken in front of the Strasbourg Cathedral one quiet afternoon. I never realized this most popular tourist area of the city would be almost devoid of tourists during the time we visited. It was actually around 6 pm but everyone else was hanging out in cafes and restaurants nearby.
On our first visit to Strasbourg, we saw this branch of Galeries Lafayette. I wanted to go inside, visit, and shop. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday then and the store was closed. Fast forward to the summer of 2026 and a weekday when we arrived. Of course, I shopped!

The elegant stairs inside Galeries Lafayette. The store had several floors and it was pretty big. I must say, I was really impressed by the summer fashion for men displayed and for sale in the store. So elegant and stylish. The prices were too!

In Strasbourg there were two attractions we couldn't miss this time around. We had to visit the cathedral and the Rohan Palace night next door.
This astronomical clock inside the Strasbourg Cathedral reminded me of Prague. This must have been the thing to see inside the cathedral as hundreds of tourists came to see it.

Every time we returned to Strasbourg after a day of sightseeing somewhere else, we walked around to get to know the city more. This we did usually around 6 pm onwards as city workers were headed home and locals began gathering in cafes and restaurants. We passed by this sketch of some vandals in one quiet alley in front of a church turned concert hall.
