Stepping Foot in Wiesbaden Again

It was still relatively early when we left Mainz. Instead of returning to Frankfurt and walk around the city which was closed on Sundays, we made the quick decision to head over to Wiesbaden for a quick look even though we were there four years ago. We were glad we did. It made us reminisce a little bit and appreciate the city even more.
This was such a lovely mural we saw in Wiesbaden. It was actually painted over a several flights of stairs.
I shall always remember Wiesbaden for its stately homes. Right from the time we stepped out of the train station, we passed by big beautiful elegant homes.

The Ampelmännchen Statue was still there. It was located close to the hot spring fountain. Designed in 1961, the hatted, green colored walking gentleman was introduced in the former GDR in 1969 to bring attention to traffic signals and pedestrian safety. By 1982, he had become a TV star as he promoted traffic education throughout the former East Germany.

The cathedral was blocked off. There was construction going in and around it. Marktkirche (Market Church) is said to be the main Protestant church in Wiesbaden. This neo-Gothic church is located in central Schlossplatz or Palace Square and was designed by Carl Boos and built between 1853 and 1862.
Since it was a Sunday, there weren't many passengers on the train. This was the train we took from Wiesbaden back to Frankfurt.
