The Mall of Berlin

18-Jul-2025 • Berlin Germany

The Mall of Berlin was new for us. It wasn't built yet back in 2012 during our first visit. The mall was quite big and on its premises were two buildings facing each other. We went inside both. One side was full of stores and restaurants while the other was only half occupied. We came here a number of times to eat at the food court. The restaurants served food from Asia, the Middle East not to mention the usual American food chains like KFC and McDonalds. On one occasion, I ordered Persian food here. It was my very first time to eat food from Iran. It was chicken in mango sauce served with a big plate of white rice. That night, Marc had Indian food. The dish was a bit too sweet for my taste but it wasn't bad. We try to eat food we don't have back home every time we're traveling. However, we're not aversed to eating in McDonald's and KFC either when we feel like it.

Taken at the mall around the middle of our weeklong stay in the city. I assume the Mall of Berlin sign was in rainbow colors to celebrate Pride Month in Germany and in other parts of the world.

Taken during our first full day in Berlin. It was very early in the morning and the mall hadn't opened yet. We had jet lag at this time, having just arrived the day before. We woke up around 4 am and we couldn't sleep anymore. Like we always do, instead of trying to get more sleep, we just begin sightseeing.

The huge Mall of Berlin was always busy from noon onwards.

A view of the food court inside the Mall of Berlin. When we travel we actually prefer to eat in foodcourts than in restaurants catering to tourists. We've learned our lesson. We shun restaurants catering to tourists.

The Indian dish Marc ordered one evening.

This was where I bought my Persian dinner one night. I just had to remember the place given it was my first time to try Persian food ever.

This was my Persian food made up of chicken in mango sauce with rice.
