The Sights in Kuala Lumpur
We only had four days in Kuala Lumpur. We were very excited to see the city. Fortunately for us, it rained only on the first night, precisely during the night when we arrived. Even then, the rain stopped after an hour. We still had time to go out and dine at the food court inside the KLCC Mall at the base of the Petronas Towers. We initially thought our hotel's location was far. That was because it took us forever to find IBIS having taken the most circuitous route. Thankfully, the staff at the hotel's front desk told us the quickest way to get to the mall and back. Sure enough, it was fast and easy.
For dinner, we ate Malaysian food for very cheap. I was really floored at the amount we paid. It was very little. Then again, the portion was rather small compared to US servings. It no longer surprises me why we in the US are on the heavy side. We eat a lot more, way more. This I realize each and every time we travel out of the country.
I was glad we decided to come to KL. It is a beautiful city I wouldn't mind visiting over and over. We took the train most of the time to get around and to reach the sights. However, we also availed of GRAB, the country's version of our UBER. When we realized we paid so little, we basically just took it everywhere we went especially when we went to Buikit Bintang. We could have taken the train back to the Petronas Towers area where our hotel was, but it meant a lot more travel time. With GRAB, we were back in IBIS in minutes. It also gave us a look at other areas in the city. We were actually impressed with the beautiful condo buildings we saw. They looked absolutely posh.
We arrived in KL at the end of Ramadan. The locals were celebrating Eid and on our very first full day in the city, people were dressed in their best attire and went to pray in the mosques. This was taken inside the KLCC Mall right before all the stores opened. By Mid day, this area of the mall was full of people having their pictures taken.
This is Petaling Street where a lot of fake luxury brands were sold. Had I known how much the merchandise were selling here for, I could have gone away with more stuff. I was really hoping to buy a lot of fake LVs here. I ended up with only one imitation LV backpack I bought for 100 Malaysian Ringgit or $23.
