The Stadel Museum
Since our trip to Frankfurt last June was our second, we were eager to see the sights we missed during our first visit. One of the must sees we couldn't and didn't want to miss was the museum mile. Sure enough, there were museums galore when we walked the mile by the Main River. We were not interested in seeing all. First of all, we didn't have the luxury of time. Second, we were mostly interested in the city's most important museum, the Stadel.
It was a Friday morning when we went. Although it had been hot the entire time since our arrival in Germany, it was drizzling and cold that day. I had to wear my fleece jacket. Luckily, there weren't many visitors in the museum and the visit was very pleasant. In fact, there were more students on a field trip to the site than there were tourists.
The museum had several floors although one was closed for some reason. The floors that we visited showcased works of the old masters with predominantly religious themes. The ones we saw in the lower lever were modern.
