The City of Nicosia

3-Aug-2019 • Nicosia Cyprus, Republic

Over the three days Marc and I were in Nicosia, we divided our time between the North (Turkish side) and the South (Greek side) of the city.

Armed with the map we got from our hotel, we explored and walked to Nicosia's sights and strolled on the city streets as much as we could.

This was a part of the city wall which surrounded the old town.

This was the bus depot Marc and I thought we were headed to when we boarded the KAPNOS shuttle bus from the airport. It turns out the review we read on Tripadvisor was old and obsolete. This was no longer KAPNOS bus' last stop anymore. Too bad because had we gotten off here, our hotel would have been a short walk away.

One ice cream sign along Ledras Street. Given the 40 plus degree Celsius heat, eating this sweet and cold treat was on everyone's mind. We ate several times after meals when we were there.

The Cyprus Museum was one beautiful museum. It wasn't big and we finished viewing the entire collection in two hours.

As you can see, up above this picture, there is a Turkish flag. It just shows that the Turkish side of the island is on the other side of the wall.

The inside of a local Catholic church. At the time we passed by here, there was an African congregation at the church preparing a show and banquet.

Delicious desserts in a supermarket. I must say, it took a lot of restraint not buying any of these while we were in Nicosia.

Lots of produce inside a local supermarket in downtown Nicosia.

There were some really nice café and bars along the cross streets of Ledras.

This was the Rimi Hotel we saw twice when we were there.
