La Praca do Comercio or Commerce Square, Lisbon

19-Aug-2018 • Lisbon Portugal

Once the site of Portugal's royal palace before the big earthquake of 1755, the Praca do Comercio or Commerce square is now home to government offices and the departure point for many buses and trams. It was just my second time to visit and I sure was glad to see it again after so many years. At the time of our visit, the square was also the venue for people to watch the world cup championship hence the crowds of soccer aficionados.

It is still the same color, still very beautiful.

So majestic! What can I say?

I was quite surprised to feel the cool breeze in Lisbon in the morning throughout out stay. By noon time onwards however, the temperatures went up and it became very hot. Too hot for my comfort at times. I was not surprised to see people sunbathing by the beach by the square.

We also saw some art figures made out of stone.
