The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah
Considered one of the archaeological treasures in Shamal, a small village, in the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah from the middle ages, the Queen of Sheba Palace, for me was no more than scattered stones that once belonged to a construction built between the 13-16th century.
Just like what Ali, our Pakistani guide, told us, "You go up to the peak of the hill for a panoramic view of the emirates." Go up the steep hill we did do and a view of the emirates we did see.
We were the only visitors to the area that day and we accessed the palace using the stone ladder built on the side of the hill. The ladder didn't reach the top though and we walked on dirt and stones part of the way up.
It was very hot when we went up the hill given it was early afternoon. What was interesting was, we saw lots of goats at the foot of the hill.
