The Retiro Train Station
On our last full day in Buenos Aires, Marc and I stumbled upon the Retiro Train station while we walked aimlessly around the city. It was a very nice and modern station. I was quite impressed.
This was really a bathroom stop for me. I found it funny that there were two guards at the bathrooms. One for the men and another one for the women. They allowed people to go inside the bathroom one by one even though the facilities were big to accommodate lots of people simultaneously. I spoke to the female guard and unless I misunderstood her, she said that they had to take pictures of people using the bathrooms. I found it strange she said that. Needless to say, the line got really long and it stretched all the way to the main hall of the train station. I eventually used the one reserved for handicapped people. Once done, I rejoined Marc at Starbucks. That coffee joint was pretty spectacular with its mural.
Anyway, I digress. The train station did surprise me too with the presence of the Virgin Mary in one corner facing the massive hall of the station.
