Our Very First Visit to Indonesia!!!

25-Apr-2017 • Batam Indonesia

Even before we left San Francisco for Singapore and Bali, Marc and I were determined to visit the city of Batam in Indonesia. Just an hour away by ferry from Singapore, it was a no brainer. We just had to go so we could say we've been to another country and get our passport stamped. I was truly pleased we did. I enjoyed myself immensely. WE took the ferry from the Harbourfront Terminal in Singapore and the roundtrip ticket cost Singapore $49 per person. Traveling to another country at this price, we couldn't be any happier.

I do need to say though that the ferry ride was truly relaxing. It wasn't scary at all. At first I thought, it would travel in open seas. But no! The vessel was always close to land throughout the entire voyage.

Since we wanted to enjoy our trip when the weather was dry we decided to go on our third day of vacation in Singapore. The ticket office only required us to show our passport and then pay for the ticket. It was that simple. We were also told that we could change our return later in the day without any fee should we decide we wanted to go home earlier.

Going through security was a breeze.

Inside the waiting area were lots of Indonesian nationals and a smattering of European tourists besides us of course.

This was the café at the Harbourfront Center.

This was where we waited to board our ferry.

I wonder who this guy is?

The seats inside the ferry. We were the very first ones to board and I was able to take a picture without the passengers yet. Anyway, the ferry sailed only 1/4 full.

So excited about our adventure.
