Care to travel all 365 days of the year?

I love to travel. I certainly would like to travel more than I do now. As it is, I usually travel when I am on break from work. As a school teacher, I have breaks several times during the year. Even on these times, though, when I don't have to go to work, I don't travel each and every time. All depends on my budget and the time, my partner, has available. I don't particularly relish traveling by myself. I know others who can, but I don't.

Would I give up my job and sell everything I own to travel every minute of my earthly existence? While it may be a very liberating experience to not have to worry about a mortgage or rent and pay monthly bills, I do like having a home to return to. I also don't mind having to pay for bills I myself have accrued. Hey, we all do need to pay for the food and services we consume, don't we? Nothing is free. Moreover, I have become a bit picky. I can't exactly rough it when traveling.

"Wouldn't I want to travel full time?, I ask myself many times. Others in fact have built businesses out of their travel blogs. True, but not each traveler who has come out with a blog has been so blessed as to be picked up by sponsors like airlines, hotels, and government tourist agencies. Should the opportunity arise and I can indeed make a living out of a life full of travel, I wouldn't mind trading professions at all.

Another reason is while my job can be stressful and the commute horrific, I find it fulfilling just the same. For now, I enjoy seeing my students learn and they make me laugh each day. My partner loves his job too. In fact, he loves what he does so much he can sit in front of his computer all day long every day all year.

I also have to think of my retirement. I am the type who needs to plan for the future. It makes me feel good knowing that when I can no longer physically and mentally handle the rat race, I have done something to give myself a comfortable retirement as possible. That is why I plan and save whatever amount I can. I have experienced not having enough money before and having to depend on family for support. It was an experience I would rather not repeat. I am too much of a scaredy cat to leave it all to luck and say, "What will be will be."

I am all for those who have the guts to travel full time. "Go for it," I say. If that's what they want and they don't hurt anyone in the process, why not? I also know people who have tried to live a life of travel 24/7 and have returned to their old routines. It really is a case of to each his own. What may work for one may not necessarily work for the other.
