The University of San Francisco

3-Oct-2015 • San Francisco United States

I went to private schools throughout most of my school career. My attendance at the preppy Jesuit run University of San Francisco was an unexpected pleasant surprise back when I got accepted to their teacher credential program on scholarship and then for my Master's in Education many years ago. Just a few years earlier, I had graduated from Ateneo de Manila, in the Philippines, also a school by the Jesuits.

I was actually a full time first year teacher at the same time I attended classes here. I had a packed schedule then and it was a lot of hard work. I worked from 8 am to 3 pm, then tried as fast as I could to attend my classes on time which began at 4 pm and which usually ended at 9 pm. By the time I got home, it was nearly 10:30 at night. Thanks to my youth then, I didn't feel as exhausted. I could only thank the Lord Almighty for his blessings and the wonderful life I was beginning to lead in the US. I was no doubt living the American dream.

Upon arriving home, I had a quick dinner then shortly went to bed only to start the whole process the following day for the next two and a half years.

The façade of the St. Ignatius Cathedral where I went to pray for a few minutes each and every time I stepped foot on the school campus.

This very beautiful ornamentation hung above one entrance to the cathedral. Very pretty, eh?

A lot of changes have happened to the campus since I attended school here. New buildings have been built and old ones have since been remodeled and updated. Marc and I actually had to ask students for directions when we returned and looked for the bookstore.

I am very lucky to have attended most of my graduate studies for free. USF was and is an extremely expensive school to go to.

The Lone Mountain Campus where my graduate studies were held.

It's been so long since I walked this hall and all others above and below it. I swear, time flies so quickly.

The newly refurbished cafeteria. I say, it looked very swank. I wonder how the food tasted here.
