Marc and I don't go to England often and so seeing the Buckingham Palace once again, especially after 17 long years was very special to us. We just hope it doesn't take another 17 before we return. Both of us actually love London a LOT!

While I enjoyed seeing the palace, I was not ready to watch the changing of the guards again. Once is enough for me, really. Back in 1997, we went early and got a nice spot for ourselves so we could witness what we had up until that time only seen on TV, the movies, newspapers, and magazines. I remember being on our feet for a very long time.

I must had it to the British for preserving beautiful traditions. I just cracked up though when the band that accompanied the guards played Broadway tunes right in front of the palace. If I am not mistaken, I believe they played New York, New York once among many others. I realized there and then the ceremony had become a show specifically for the present day tourists.
