Kensington Close Hotel

11-Jul-2015 • London England

After two weeks traveling to Dublin (Ireland), Belfast (Northern Ireland), Douglas (Isle of Man), Liverpool (England), St. Helier (Jersey), St. Peter Port (Guernsey), Marc and I arrived in London, our very last destination for the last week and last leg of our summer vacation for 2015. I was very happy to step foot in London once again after 17 long years!

For our week long stay, Kensington Close Hotel in South Kensington was our home away from home. I actually had not heard about this hotel before we booked it but it was their price which ultimately made us stay there. It had the least expensive rooms advertised on the travel engines we checked. I also saw a video about it taken by an elderly Singaporean male tourist on You Tube.

I was generally satisfied with the hotel. Its location is superb. I found the rooms just a notch above a dorm room but it had airconditioning and cable. The bathroom was modern and sleek. Overall, we wouldn't mind staying here again unless of course, there was someplace less expensive.

I found all hotels in the UK and Ireland very, very expensive. So expensive, our hotel bill ate up most of our travel budget this summer. It was the total opposite of our hotels in Central and Eastern Europe where we paid as low as $45 for a room at the IBIS Hotels.

When booking a room at this hotel, I honestly suggest getting two twin beds. That way, you at least have space to move around in. On our first night, we were given a double and while we really don't mind sleeping in one, on this occasion we preferred to sleep separately since we were both sick. We didn't want to constantly breathe into each other's faces while sleeping.
