Off to the Isle of Man Aboard the Steam Packet
For our trip to Douglas in the Isle of Man, Marc and I took the Steam Packet ferry from Belfast. The port was just behind the Titanic Museum. To get there though, we took a cab and paid a total of 5 pounds. With our heavy suitcases and backpacks, we just had to. Our hotel, though centrally located was just not walking distance to the ferry terminal.
Bonita, the lady at the front desk of our Belfast hotel, the Premier Inn, called for a cab to take us. While we waited she chatted with us and was very, very friendly.
There were a lot of people at the terminal. There was a huge contingent of the Boy and Girl Scouts from Dublin, Ireland with their teachers and volunteer parents. There were families and couples too. The entire ferry ride was smooth although it was drizzling on and off and the skies very, very gray. Thank God it was travel time for us otherwise it would have been a dreary day for exploring.
I took all of the pictures inside the ferry shortly before we disembarked. All the other passengers had already lined up and were getting ready to leave which is why all the areas shown here were either empty or vacant.
There was a small duty free shop on board which sold perfume, books, and t-shirts. I just window shopped. There was also a stall which sold food. We bought one order of traditional English breakfast which Marc and I shared. The portions were just to big for us to eat alone.
