Taiwanese American Cultural Festival
Today was a special day for the friendship between Taiwan and the United States. The yearly celebration took place in Union Square and it featured dances, songs, and delicious food.
It was still too early when we arrived. In fact, the event organizers were still setting up for the day. We did see some gigantic figures of Chinese gods which reminded me of the puppet dolls I used to admire in a Taiwanese souvenir store at a mall in the East Bay years ago.
Began in 1993, this festival has been celebrated annually to showcase Taiwanese culture to visitors from all over the world as well as inform people of the contributions of Taiwanese Americans to the US.
