The US National Cemetery

12-Mar-2015 • San Francisco, California United States

I find national cemeteries, those where US soldiers and veterans, are buried very grand, elegant, and peaceful. There is one right outside the city of San Francisco, and Marc, my partner, and I pass by it every weekend as we travel to our favorite Ongpin Filipino restaurant.

It wasn't until last weekend however when we decided to take a closer look. In my lifetime, I have seen and visited a few of these cemeteries where US servicemen who perished in world and regional wars are buried. The one in Normandy, France was the first one I visited followed by the one in Manila which was equally, if not more beautiful. It also reminds me of the place where we buried my dad in last month, the Libingan ng mga Bayani or Cemetery of Heroes.
