Carmel By The Sea

5-Oct-2014 • Carmel, California United States

From Monterey, Marc and I traveled to Carmel by the Sea. This tiny city was actually the very first city I visited with my mom and sister, Ging, upon my return to the US as an immigrant ages ago. It had been over twenty five years since I actually came here and I never truly appreciated the beauty of Carmel until this visit. I found it very posh but not flashy. I wouldn't mind coming here for an overnight stay next time. Ocean Drive was an amazing street for shopping and sightseeing. Though it was not a holiday weekend, there were Asian tourists galore when we were there.

This Mission Style bell functioned as a street divider on Ocean Avenue

This retail store reminded me of Rouen, France and its half timbered houses. Carmel did have European touches to it.

Plates for sale in Anthropologie

This was one store I enjoyed visiting. It looked like a Pottery Barn or Crate and Barrel inside.

Marshmallows anyone? I would love to but I'm on a diet right now.

This was one pastry shop I enjoyed. I'll let the pictures below explain why. I was on a diet until I saw these.

Who doesn't like Cannolis?

These Napoleons were to die for!

And eclairs!

The Hansel and Gretel Cottage

Very California, don't you agree?

These carvings were located on the side of a store which used to be a theater along Ocean Avenue.

This was the other stone carving adorning the theater turned retail clothing store.
