A Beautiful Day in Monterey, California

5-Oct-2014 • Monterey, California United States

I cannot believe it took twenty years for both Marc and I to return to Monterey. Just a two hour drive from San Francisco, we had a wonderful time in this Central coast city this weekend. Many changes have certainly occurred since 1994. Just like the majority of tourists who come here, we came primarily to see its two most popular attractions: the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row.

The bust of John Steinbeck

The Cannery Row Monument

Erected last February 2014, this monument pays tribute to the many people who helped shape Cannery Row. Perched atop the rock is the statue of Nobel Prize winning writer John Steinbeck who immortalized Cannery Row with his novel of the same name.

The beautiful beach by Cannery Row

The Intercontinental Hotel by the beach. This has got to be the place to stay at in Monterey.

The beach right behind the acquarium. Those rocks rock!

I loved this painting on a wall by the beach. The wall looked more like a ruin but this painting on it made it really stand out.

ONe of the bar restaurants along Cannery Row

One of two boats I saw on display in the city. One was by a park while this one served as advertising for a restaurant.
