Our Truly Last Day in Zagreb

13-Aug-2014 • Zagreb Croatia

Marc and I spent a total of four days in Zagreb. For a mid-sized city, it is way too much time for sightseeing here. We did not really plan it that way, it just happened. We left after our third day but returned after we altered our vacation plans.

Ban Jelacic Square is without any doubt my favorite place in Zagreb. It is the heart of the city and I just love its hustle and bustle. It is likewise walking distance to all the major landmarks like the cathedral, the DOLAC Market, and Ilac Street.

The Grand Opening of McDonald's in Ban Jelacic Square. This branch literally opened on the last day of our stay in Zagreb. We had wondered why there were no Golden Arches in this capital city. It just seemed strange to us at first that a major capital city would not have it. Even very tiny Banja Luka in Republika Srspka in Bosnia had one.

We did buy ice cream here and we could still smell the fresh coat of paint on the walls. Some computers from which to make orders were still not fully installed. The store's manager told us in his halting English that the branch literally opened at 1 am the day we went there.

At end of Petrinjski, Stjepan Radic

Me happy to be inside the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church
