Lake Bled
A visit to Lake Bled from Ljubljana was high in our to do list while we were in Slovenia. A fellow teacher had been there before and she strongly recommended that we made the trip. We had no regrets going. I loved Lake Bled.
One lady employee in our hotel, the Best Western Premier Slon, suggested that we take the bus instead of the train since it was shorter and more direct. She was right. We went to the bus station right in front of the train station, purchased our tickets at 8.50 euros per person one way and went to space #7 for our bus. The trip took about an hour and a half.
Marc and I decided to walk all around the lake and the whole trek with a stop in Villa Bled, former Yugoslav President Josef Tito's former summer presidential residence, took approximately three hours. It was very hot while we walked about but the superb views more than made up for the heat.
For a long time, my image of Lake Bled was this island with the church at its peak. Well, we did see it but Lake Bled, as it turns out, is more than just this tiny touristy island. Had I known before hand that there were beaches in different parts of the lake, I would have brought my swimming trunks with me and have taken a dip. There were entire families there enjoying the water.
