For years I had wanted to visit Valle de los Caidos in the outskirts of Madrid. It took me so long to actually visit this very historic landmark. Had it not been for my Master's studies at the University of Salamanca, I would not have been able to go.

I was so glad to find out that it was included in the list of places for us to visit during one of our excursion weekends.
