Summer Flowers On My Way To Work

12-Jun-2014 • San Francisco United States

Unlike my regular school working day, today I woke up at 7 in the morning and caught the 8 am BART train from the financial district. Normally, I would be running down the hills to catch either the 6:45 or 7 am train out to the suburb where I work, but given that today is merely a teacher workday, there was no reason to hurry and rush about. All I needed to do was clean out my room and leave my keys with the school secretary before I headed out to begin my annual two month summer break as a school teacher.

It felt so nice not having to worry about being in school before the morning bell rang. I had so much time. I could even take pictures of the beautiful flowers I always saw on the way but never got to appreciate enough. In fact, there were even some I didn't realize were there all along. I only noticed them today. Imagine that.

This was one tree I saw every morning every time I got off the bus. I must say, I am used to seeing red, pink, yellow, and white flowers, but these purple colored ones are just amazing.

These flowers blanketed a huge space right next to the sidewalk.

While summer doesn't really start until June 21st, I feel like the spring and summer weather really kicked in the day after Christmas 2013. It's been so warm, the Cherry Blossom trees all bloomed mid January in our neck of the woods. It has just been so dry and so warm. Perhaps there will be only two seasons in California from now on. Spring and summer. Come to think of it, that might not be a bad thing.
