Traveling to Manila to Visit My Ailing Father
My sister, who left the US two months earlier to take care of my father, advised me to return to the Philippines and visit him too. I had to make travel arrangements quickly and luckily I was able to get flights on the dates I would be on spring break. On this particular trip, I purchased tickets on Cathay Pacific First Class with my accumulated American Airlines miles. I had long wanted to use them for travel but up until now it was so difficult to book any tickets with them. It was sheer luck I was able to get any ticket at all with them at such short notice.
I have been flying faithfully on US carriers for the last few years but I was extremely happy with Cathay Pacific. I had flown them on Business Class on previous trips to Manila but that was over ten years ago. Since my flight was only scheduled to leave at 1:00 am, I spent some time at the airline's Marco Polo Lounge on the second floor of SFO International.
