The Imperial Palace

All By Myself at the Imperial Palace. It was a holiday, January 1st. Everybody was either at home or had left town to go on holiday some place else.

By one of the various entrances to the Imperial Palace in Kyoto

The site was closed due to the New Year's Day Holiday. I must say, the whole city was deserted and felt like a ghost town.

At the Heian Jingu with its Grand Torii behind me

Heian Jingu

Hmmm, just how do we go about touring this temple? Do we start here then walk to this side or should we take this path to reach the temple first?

On one of the platforms inside the old Kyoto Train Station waiting for our bullet train back to Tokyo

The magnificent bullet train

At the platform with a bullet train arriving right behind me. I have to say riding these bullet trains was sheer joy. They were uber comfortable and felt even better than traveling on a plane.

The bullet train has arrived!
