Reopening of San Francisco International Airport's Terminal 3

25-Jan-2014 • San Francisco United States

I can no longer recall nor count how many times I have gone to and through San Francisco International Airport. Given that I live in San Francisco, SFO International is my go to airport every time I travel within the US and abroad. After having traveled to 70 countries now, I can say that my adopted hometown's airport is indeed one of the world's finest. That for sure.

One thing that stands out about SFO is its huge size. It has many terminals and many have gone such modernization, the place doubles as a museum and place for fine dining.

Just two and a half weeks after our arrival from our most recent European Christmas holiday, we definitely felt the urge to travel once again as we had the opportunity to visit the reopening of the airport's Terminal 3. It was just a couple of years ago when we also visited the reopening of Terminal 2 for the sole use of American Airlines and Virgin America.

As we toured and gawked at the facility, we could tell we were in the midst of avid travelers. Everywhere we went, we could here people talking about planes and the trips they have taken.

The pictures from this point on were from other parts of SFO but not from the newly remodeled and reopened Terminal 3. While Marc and I were wandering around the airport, I saw this artwork by chance. We had seen it the first time when the International Airport Terminal was inaugurated in the early 2000s.

I just love the way these tiles were placed one on top of anther on a quiet corner in the airport. A close scrutiny showed intricate work on each tile.

JUst take a look at the details on each tile. To think, each one is no bigger than a couple of square inches.
