Deoksugung Palace, The Royal Museum, and The Museum of Contemporary Art

9-Feb-2014 • Seoul Korea, South

The Deoksugung Palace in Seoul is a huge walled compound of palaces occupied by Korean royalties until the colonial period around the turn of the 20th century. All the palaces here were colorfully painted and intricately decorated.

Intricately decorated halls with tiled roofs were everywhere in Deoksugung Palace

Here's one of those tiled roof halls in Deoksugung Palace

And another beautifully decorated hall in the compound of the Deoksugung Palace

This hall was by far my favorite. It was smallish in size but gilded all around
