Capitoline Hill and the Monument of Vittorio Emanuele

30-Dec-2013 • Rome Italy

It was a very rainy day when we went to Capitoline Hill. The rain didn't come down strong. In fact, it was just drizzle. However, it did rain the whole day without letup. It was the slow and continuous drop that eventually felt like a nuisance. How my shoes got very wet inside and out. Just like we planned if it rained, we went inside a museum. There were parts of the Monument of Vittorio Emanuele that were open and free to the public that day. We knew we had to take advantage just like the hundreds of other tourists to Rome who took shelter from the rain.

I just loved this view of Rome from the Vittoriano

This was another view of Rome taken from the same monument

And another. This is my favorite, by far. I cannot say it enough, but I truly, truly like Rome. Actually, I like a lot of Italy. Honestly.

The Roman Coliseum

The Trajan Forum

Basilica S. Maria in Aracoeli

Lighting a candle inside a Catholic church to ask for help is a worldwide practice among all Catholics. I was waiting for this couple to leave so I could take a picture of the altar. On second thought, it didn't look bad with them in it either.
