Seoul, Korea
In the winter of 2004, Marc and I were scheduled to visit Korea for a week and Japan for another 10 days. It was supposed to be our holiday vacation. Many people did exclaim, "What? You're vacationing in Seoul? Isn't it going to be very, very cold there?" The answer was yes and frankly we didn't mind. Unfortunately, the first leg of the trip had to be cancelled since a few days before our scheduled departure, I caught a bad case of the flu. I was so sick, we had to delay our ultimate departure. Luckily, the medication I was prescribed with kicked in quickly, I was up and about right away. By the time we rebooked our trip, we still had to pass by Korea, but this time only for a day. Thus, what was supposed to be a week long stay turned out to be just 24 hours.
While in the airport, I couldn't help but notice how fashionable the winter coats of the locals were wearing. They all looked so chic and affluent. Little did I know it was going to be the beginning of my soon to be intense interest in Asian fashion, in particular, of Japanese fashion. Anyway, back to Korea, our sightseeing was literally limited to our hotel, The Renaissance, and its surrounding streets.
