Tramore, Ireland

A view of the ferry we sailed on for Ireland

Enjoying the ferry ride from Wales to Ireland

Marc and I had just traveled on our first cruise to the Caribbean when we took the ferry to Ireland from Wales. Needless to say, we were excited to travel on this one. We couldn't wait to check out the ship, dine in its restaurants, and shop in its duty free stores.

It was late afternoon when we arrived in Ireland. Our hotel for our first night in the Irish Republic was located in the town of Tramore which at night was lit and full of mini casinos replete with slot machines. It kind of resembled a Sta. Cruz Beach Boardwalk with its rides and other children attractions.

Our hotel,The Grand, lived up to its name. When I return to this city, I would definitely want to stay here again, that is, if it is still around, operating, and has good reviews from the travelers.

The Grand Hotel back in 1997

I found this hotel full of character. It was so different from all the hotel chains I see in the US.

In the morning of our departure from Tramore, Marc and I took a short stroll after eating breakfast in the hotel. Marc had just visited Ireland for work a few months prior but I was happy indeed to be there for the first time.
