Flying home on Air Canada

13-Aug-2013 • Canada

On July 27, 2013, our vacation to Finland, the Baltic States, and Scandinavia came to an end. It was a wonderful three weeks I shall always cherish and remember. The hundreds of pictures we took will certainly remind me of the places we were fortunate to see. Unlike in previous vacations when I felt sad that our vacation was over, I didn't feel that way at all on this trip. In fact, I didn't feel that way last year either after our first Eastern European vacation. I just believe that while one vacation ends, another one will soon begin. Besides, I have San Francisco to come home to. How bad can that be?

On board our Air Canada flight back to San Francisco via Toronto

While on board, we had the chance to see Iceland and Greenland while we flew above them.

That's Greenland below us.

How I wish I could include Greenland among the countries I have visited. However, it would be cheating if I included it in my list given that Marc and I simply flew over it on our way back to North America from Europe last August 2013.

I have read many reviews from previous passengers about how bad an airline Air Canada was. For many years now, I have actually tried not to fly Air Canada whenever possible. We traveled with them this time around because we were flying on mileage tickets and they were the only ones we could get given our dates and destination. I was rather surprised to find our flight quite pleasant.

Now that I think of it, my most recent flight with them wasn't the first. I have actually flown on four Air Canada flights. The first was from Newark, NJ to Montreal, the second was from Montreal to San Francisco, the third was on this trip from Copenhagen to Toronto with the fourth being the connecting flight from Toronto to San Francisco last July 28.

It was like a breath of fresh air to see our own personal screens to watch movies and TV programs from not to mention an array of music to listen to. I have flown on so many other international flights, sadly on US carriers, that just didn't have them. For a long time, I didn't realize that US carriers do lag behind many world airlines. The food was nothing to rave about although it was not horrible either. On the whole, I would rate Air Canada a 7.5 out of 10 and would not hesitate to fly with them again.
