The Oslo Central Train Station
Upon our arrival in Oslo on July 21, 2013 from Vilnius, we took the train from the airport to the city's main central station. Unlike in the Baltic States where we just had to walk to our city center hotels, we had to take the train this time around. After collecting our luggage from baggage claim, we approached a tourist information office and asked one gentleman employee how we could get to downtown the least expensive way possible. He recommended we took the local train for the equivalent of US $16. There was another train which many tourists took but it was way more expensive. We were quite happy with the one we traveled on. The travel was quick and smooth albeit really packed not just with locals but mostly other tourists with suitcases and backpacks just like us.
There were lots of people but not scary nor intimidating at all.
We weren't sure how frequently the trains ran to the airport. So, the day before our departure from Oslo, we decided to get information from the ticket booth in the station and bought our train tickets right then.
There were lots of souvenir stores all over Oslo. Even 7 Eleven sold postcards. Unfortunately, everything was just a bit too expensive for my taste. I really had to be careful and plan out my souvenir purchases here
