Desperately in Need of a Room Change in PK Ilmarine

30-Jul-2013 • Tallinn Estonia

Before we left the hotel to sightsee in Tallinn, we spoke to personnel at the front desk and reiterated our need to change rooms. Marc told the young man on duty, the very same person who assigned us the horrible suite, that he was going to ask for a refund of the money we had paid for our room reservation. I also expressed my concern about the deceptiveness of their ads on the internet. The room we got did not resemble in any way the room they show in their website. We showed him the pictures we took and informed him of our plan to write about it on Tripadvisor. I even asked if he had seen the room he had assigned us. By this time, the hotel employee told us he was going to try to help and do his best.

I was truly disapoointed at this point. We were considering changing hotels. I remember hating everything about Tallinn then and couldn't wait to leave for Riga. When we returned to the hotel that night, the same hotel employee was still there and he gave us the key to a new room. We were so relieved. We didn't have to spend the night in the awful suite they gave us at first. Off we went and picked up our suitcases and backpack. We couldn't believe the difference. The other hotel wing looked so nice and renovated.

We opened the door and the room this time seemed like any normal hotel room. Just what we wanted.

We couldn't believe our eyes. The hotel even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine and family sized bar of chocolate.

Here's a close up view of the champagne and chocolate bar they gave us. Perhaps, they realized the big mistake they just made.

Our new beds, this time properly covered with bed linens. There were even bath robes for us to use. One for me and another one for Marc.

The room wasn't very big but after the horrible eperience earllier in the day, it seemed perfect for us.

The bathroom was the complete and total opposite of the first one. This time, there was no bucket of rags nor a mop underneath.

Our mood suddenly changed. But goodness, what a horrible experience we just had. We would not want to experience it ever again especially while we're on vacation. It wasn't fun.

The following day, we took pictures of the common areas of the hotel. Actually, the hotel where the public could relax and congregate with colleagues and friends weren't bad at all. In fact, we saw the crew of an airline having breakfast and waiting for their shuttle to the airport.

We took this picture from the second floor.
