Sibelius Park

30-Jul-2013 • Helsinki Finland

From the Villa Tamminiemi and the Urho Kekkonen Museum, Marc and I took the bus we traveled on to get to the Seurasaari Open Air Museum to get to Sibelius Park and then to the city center.

We had to remember two numbers when traveling by bus in Finland. We had to know the bus number as well as the stop they passed.

Our bus was bus no. 24 which passed by stop no. 1302

This was the bus we took.

The ride from the villa to the park was no more than 10 minutes from what I remember. There were other tourists with us on the bus who planned on visiting the park too. However, we thought they got off too soon when they did. As it turned out we were the ones who made the mistake. We should have gotten off with them. We eventually had to get off at the stop a block after the right one. We had to walk a block back to the park.

One of the two most important monuments in the park. The Bust of the Finnish Music composer Sibelius.

There were crowds of people in the park when we arrived. Many had gone up to the monument itself making it difficult to take pictures. Many tourists got irked by this.
