La Quinta Inn and Suites in Redding, California

25-May-2013 • Redding, California United States

The three day long Memorial Day Weekend is always much awaited in the entire country. Not only is it the time when many Americans think of all the brave men and women who patriotically served the United States of America through different wars the world over, it is also said to be the official start of the summer travel season. Not only does it allow everyone to have a much needed rest from work, people actually travel far and wide during this time. Marc and I are no different from the rest. We too decided to travel although we traveled closer to home. We went to Mount Shasta and the Lassen National Park, both in Redding, Northern California.

On this weekend, our home far from home was the La Quinta Inn and Suites. This huge American flag was a nice sight right behind the hotel. "So fitting for this special Memorial Day Weekend," I thought.

Marc has been traveling a lot once again for work and in the last three weeks alone, he has traveled to Philadelphia, Dallas, and Salt Lake City. His company normally books his hotel and the La Quinta Inn and Suites is very often the hotel he is assigned. Recently, he received a gift certificate from this hotel chain allowing him to book a free night at the date of his choice with free breakfast. He chose this weekend for us to stay with them.

The room we were given upon check in. We arrived shortly after 2 pm and the check in was quick, smooth, and very friendly. We were even given a goody bag with a bottle of water and a chocolate chip cookie.

Our room had two double beds. The room was at ground level and faced the courtyard. We also had a partial view of the hotel pool. Our room had two huge glass doors that could open to let light and air in. We kept them closed at all times though for security and privacy.

I have stayed in many hotels and I am always happy to stay in US chains. Their rooms are always spacious compared to their European and Japanese counterparts.

I always appreciate hotels providing flat irons and ironing boards in each room. These especially come in handy for business travelers whose clothes often get all wrinkled from being packed tight in suitcases and in flight bags.

The tub and toilet

These towels on the tube provided a nice décor on the tub especially with the bath soap and shampoo/conditioner bottle on them

Any hotel that doesn't scrimp on bath towels is a winner for me.

Marc and I only stayed a night at La Quinta on this particular trip. I was generally happy with the hotel. I heard a bit of noise outside our corner room as well as from the bathroom right above our room. They did not bother me as much though since the noise didn't really last for long periods of time.

The room in general was clean. The bedsheets were crisp and ironed, the airconditioning worked, the TV had many channels for viewing, and the bathroom clean. The morning breakfast was sufficient.

As is common knowledge, La Quinta is a budget business hotel. There are no luxuries here. Should you desire a hotel with history and a touch of class, then this chain isn't for you. If all you are after is clean and safe accommodation that wouldn't break the bank, then the La Quinta comes highly recommended.

I wouldn't mind staying here again. Anyway, thanks so much La Quinta for the wonderful experience.
