Our Food in Beijing

3-Jan-2012 • Beijing China, People’s Republic

There were many, many restaurants in Beijing.  We knew we weren't going to go hungry there given the quantity and quality of eating joints both upscale and food courts just about everywhere.  For breakfast, we went to a bakery a few blocks from Citibank.  It was very similar to the Chinese bakeries I visit and buy from in Chinatown in San Francisco.  Then for lunch and dinner, it was the restaurants inside the modern and chi chi malls along Wangfujing for us.  We had our first meal at Rajisen Ramen in Beijing.  We had what you would call a very early dinner.

This was my spicy soup for dinner on our very first night stay in China.  It was so delicious!

Right after our trip to the Great Wall in Badaling, we explored the mall next to the North Beijng Railway Station and ended up having dinner at one of its restaurants where we had such authentic and fantastic Chinese food.  This is what we got:

This is where we ate.

We also ate at Azabu Jyuban, Yoshinoya, Lotteria, KFC, and even McDonald's.  KFC was literally everywhere and it was undoubtedly one of the local's favorite restaurants.  It was always packed.

Marc and I had breakfast here at this McDonald's on Wangfujing one morning.  It was full of Chinese customers when we went.

This was one street parallel to Wangfujing.  It had rows upon rows of food stalls and shops selling local delicacies.

Fried starfish and critters, anyone?  Yup, they sure sold thess in many food stalls.

This place is so pretty!  Restaurants lined this street on the left and on the right.

The gate along Wangfujing leading to the many tiny streets and alleys of this old, quaint and picturesque commercial center.
